friday night

as part of our valentine date cycle, amy and i went to "the next door" coffee house and i played for 20 minutes of open mic nite. basically there were just a bunch of older people there, but it was cool. i played a pretty decent set. this saturday, i'm playing at a coffee shop in east bernard for some friends of mine. my next gig so far in houston is at the wired cafe on barker-cypress on march 19th. i'm going to try and book something between now and then. i would love to play every weekend if i could. i guess i need to find myself someone to book me shows, but then i would have to pay them and that would stink. i'd rather do it myself, since most of my shows are non-paying gigs. hope everyone is doing well. i may have 3 camps this summer, plus our own church's jh camp. we'll see. well have a great day. i've got to hit the road for school. i have to write some lesson plans this week. oh yeah our other date was to the alamo draft house to see the meet the parents sequel. cool place....we should all go sometime.

absolutely

nothing funny happening in my life right this very minute. or day for that matter. i went to willowbrook to catch by the tree yesterday. great band. i've been acquainted with the lead singer for about 7 years. they used to play hico fbc. he actually recognized me sans hair. i got to talk with him. i helped them load out. these guys have a number one hit on 20 the countdown magazine, and they load their own truck. no lenny kravitz roadies for these guys. and they told me not to help. maybe they were afraid i would hurt myself and sue them or something. i told them that if they played at my church that we would all help them load up so i was just doing what i would normally do. not that i move alot of equipment at church, but i help all i can between the 4 jobs i do on a given sunday morning. anyway it was cool.

so i've got an answer to prayer. i've been praying that God would point me to a studio i can go to record in. that may sound silly to you, but i really have a desire to lay down all of these songs that He has given me. i don't care to be famous. i have to say that i wouldn't mind making a living playing music if i was honest. anyway, i go over to the met which is the big baptist church right by my school and i'm asking the worship pastor about the conference they are going to have there and he says something about a studio. he takes me down to see it, and it is awesome. they even have pro tools. so i ask how much it costs to use the studio, and he tells me i could use it for free, when it is open in april. so anyway. praise God for that. maybe i can finally finish my demo. i wish i could get things to go down good, and maybe i could have a cd for camps this year. that would be really cool. have a great week. God bless
